How did the Life Expedition Program begin?

This program is the result of a catch-up chat between two Buddhist friends. Both captains of the current expedition have known each other since their youth when they volunteered in a Buddhist organization. While reflecting upon the current situations around the world, an idea suddenly popped up in their minds. “Why not share the wisdom of Buddha just like Citta Macchikāsaṇḍika?”

Note: Citta Macchikāsaṇḍika was a layman who was acknowledged by Buddha as the foremost in bringing fellow householders into the Dharma. How did he do it? Citta did not claim to be a buddha, or an enlightened teacher. He simply practiced being a good person, and enthusiastically shared what he learned from Buddha with his fellow villagers. When these people expressed interest in buddhadharma, Citta would then bring them to Buddha. (Just like what we are doing now.

What is a captain of an expedition?

An expedition is a group of people exploring new frontiers. And in this program our agenda is about exploring Buddha’s wisdom in our modern world. The captains of an expedition are experienced traveling companions/friends who head an expedition. In our programs, the captains coordinate, plan and prepare various topics for participants to discuss.

What are we exploring, seriously?

Anything in life and nothing is taboo. We will discuss various topics, from personal issues such as studies and standing up to bullies, careers and office politics, relationships, friendships, kinships, mentorships, money, personal well-being, sex, romance, love, childcare, etc. All the important milestones in life that we find meaning in.

Who is this program for?

Our program is designed for young people (18 to 30 years old) to discover the wisdom of Buddha's words through the lens of our modern world. We hope to share the Buddha's messages in a simple, systematic, modern, and practical way. Besides learning some Buddhist knowledge, we also seek to connect people from all over the world.

The program is designed for people between 18 to 30 years old but all are welcome.
